The manuscripts most probably belonged to Shuluutskii datsan. In the 1930s, when the datsan was demolished, some books from its library were preserved by local families of Atsagat village. The collection contains the manuscripts which have been copied in the Soviet period.

The manuscripts belong to a private library of lama Rinchin Buyantuev. He inherited it from his grandfather Gombo Shoinzhonov who was a lama of Chesan monastery until the 1930s. Later he lived with his family in Kizhinga village.

The manuscripts are the property of the community of Aginskii datsan. After datsan was closed in the 1930s the books were preserved by locals, and then returned back to the Aginskii datsan after it was opened again in 1945.
