Extent:
Square-shaped papyrus sheet, with some surface damage and abrasion; written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. The front bears 13 lines running along the fibres; margins are extant, the right and lower being minimal. Folding lines are still visible. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in glass frame.

The front bears 11 lines, the first two of which are fragmentary; margins are extant, the right being minimal. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in glass frame.

Papyrus sheet, complete and well preserved, with only few small insect holes not affecting the text; written on both sides along the fibres, the back bearing one line, with sealing pattern; on the front there are 7 lines, complete, occupying the upper half of the sheet; the last line is indented and written after some blank space. Upper and side margins are minimal, while ample blank space was left at the bottom. Vertical folds (front) are still visible. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Left papyrus (A): Medium-brown fragment, broken off at the bottom and on the left, complete on the other sides; bearing writing on one side along the fibres. The ends of 20 lines survive, with upper and lower margins. The back is blank.

Right papyrus (B): Light-brown fragment, broken off on the sides, complete at the top and bottom; bearing writing on one side along the fibres. The mid portions of 9 lines survive, with upper and right margins. The back is blank.

Scope & Content:
Nearchus describes to Heliodorus his sightseeing journey up the Nile: he arrived at Syene, then went to Libya and visited the oracle of Ammon; he also carved the names of the dear ones on the monuments. The address of the letter is on the back.

The front bears 12 lines running along the fibres, some of which are damaged; traces of another line are visible at the bottom. Lower and left margins are extant, the upper is damaged; no margin was left to the right. The back bears one line written along the fibres in the upper half of the sheet and lacking the beginning. Right papyrus (B): Medium-brown fragment, complete at the top, imperfect on the right and broken off on the other sides; bearing writing on one side along the fibres. The ends of 16 lines survive, with the upper margin. The back is blank. Another fragment of the same papyrus, which preserves the first letters of this column and the preceding column, is now in Heidelberg, Institut für Papyrologie, inventoried as P. G 87.

Two papyrus fragments that do not belong together, mounted on cardboard in the same glass frame.

Upper papyrus (A): Upper left corner of a medium-brown papyrus sheet, written on one side along the fibres. The front bears the beginnings of 11 lines from the top of a column, and traces of another line at the bottom. Left and upper margins survive. The back is blank. A fragment now in Heidelberg, Institut für Papyrologie, inventoried as P. G 200 a, preserves the right-hand portion of the papyrus.

Lower papyrus (B): Medium-brown papyrus fragment, broken off at the bottom, lacking the upper right corner, and displaying some surface damage; written on one side along the fibres. The front bears 16 lines, and a scant trace of a further line at the bottom. Parts of the upper, right and left margins survive. A sheet-join runs vertically along the right edge. The back is blank.
