Dossier of documents relating to a dispute over some land located in the Pathyrite nome, claimed by a certain Panas; the copy of an earlier ruling by Pechutes, who instructed Daemachus to publish his judgment, is enclosed.

Fragments of a papyrus roll, another portion of which is preserved in a papyrus of the collection in Heidelberg, inventoried as P. G. 1288; broken off to the left and damaged at the bottom and along the vertical folds.Two columns survive, the first lacking the right-hand half, and the second almost complete. Right, upper and lower margins measure 45-60 mm, 30 mm, and 45-60 mm respectively. The intercolumn measures 13-30 mm. There are two lines, rubbed off, in the lower right corner. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Fragment of a will drawn up in Krokodilopolis, in the Pathyrite nome; the name of the testator is lost. The dating clause and the opening of the document survive.

Papyrus fragment, broken off to the sides; the surviving portion is well preserved. Writing runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank. Parts of 9 lines lacking beginnings and ends remain. Some blank space separates line 7 from line 8. Upper and lower margins are wide. A sheet-join running across the fibres and along the height of the sheet is visible in the right edge. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

3. Papyrus 624

Loan of Wheat (P.Grenf. I 28, P.Lond. III 624 descr., TM 220)
Scope & Content:
Contract for the loan of some artabas of wheat, partly crossed out; the name of the lender is lost. Penalty apples if Phmois, the borrower, fails to repay the wheat back within the agreed time. At the end is the demotic receipt of payment. Date and summary are on the back.

Papyrus sheet, broken off at the top and right, with damage along the horizontal folds. A thin strip of papyrus was glued diagonally onto the upper part of the front-side. Writing is along the fibres on the front and across them on the back. The back was rotated 180 degrees and bears the beginning of three lines in the right edge. On the front there are portions of 19 lines, the first being very mutilated; of the others, only the beginnings survive. Part of the text was crossed out. The last five lines are in demotic. Left and lower margins survive. A sheet-join running along the height of the sheet is visible in the left edge of the front. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Light-brown papyrus roll, complete and well preserved, displaying minor damage along the vertical folds and in the left edge; writing is on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. There are three columns of varying height and width; the first is of 8 short lines; the second has 11 broad lines, with lines 3-11 being indented; the third has 4 broad lines, the last written in the middle of the column. The intercolumns between columns 1 and 2 and between columns 2 and 3 measure x mm and x mm respectively. Upper, lower and right margins are extant. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Papyrus sheet, complete and well preserved, written along the fibres on the front and across them on the back. The back bears a three-line docket; on the front there is a column of 27 lines, the last of which is indented and separated by some blank space and paragraphus. All margins are extant, with the blank space at the bottom measuring 70 mm. Litlle space was left blank also between lines 3 and 4. There is a sheet-join running along the height of the sheet in the right edge. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Part of a papyrus roll, worm-eaten throughout, especially in its lower half, and broken off at the right. Writing runs on one side, the back being blank. Three sheets of the roll survive: the first and second are written across the fibres; the fibres orientation of the third is opposite that of the first two, and writing runs along the fibres. There are two columns of varying length: the first has 4 lines, the second, which is wider, has 12 lines; the third column is lost. Upper, left and lower margins survive. Two sheet-joins are visible. Left papyrus (A): Medium-to-dark-brown papyrus fragment, complete at the top and bottom, broken off on the sides; with holes regularly distributed along the right edge; written on both sides. The front bears the mid portions of 22 lines running along the fibres; upper and lower margins survive; on the back, there are 3 lines, written across the fibres, upside down in relation to the text on the front.

Right papyrus (B): Medium-brown papyrus fragment, complete at the top, right and bottom, broken off on the left; written on both sides. The front bears the ends of 28 lines running along the fibres; the lower margin survives, the right and upper margins are minimal; on the back, there are portions of 2 lines, written across the fibres at the bottom, upside down in relation to the text on the front.
