Title:
Contract for the Appointment of a Delegate (P.Lond. II 306, Chrest.Wilck. 263, TM 11685)
Scope & Content:
Stotoetis, son of Stotoetis, tax-collector in Herakleia, appoints Satornilus, son of Apion, as a deputy in the tax collection for the third share of the office for two years. The delegate has to pay all the expenses related to the work and is to receive a salary of 252 drachmas per year.

Papyrus sheet, broken off at the bottom and damaged along the vertical folding lines. Writing is on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. The text consists of one column with 26 lines, with the last quite mutilated. Left and upper margins are extant; no blank space was left to the right. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Complete papyrus sheet, written on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. There are a few small holes and the surface is occasionally abraded along the vertical folding lines. The text consists of one column with 26 lines, the last of which, separated by little blank space, is indented. All margins are extant, with no margin at the right. Light-brown papyrus sheet, almost complete but damaged by holes throughout, especially along the right edge and the horizontal folding lines. Writing is on one side along the fibres, the back being blank. The texts consists of one column of 23 lines, with only the last lines somewhat mutilated at the end. The surface is abraded in places and two lines are blotted; bottom, left, and upper margins are extant; the right is minimal and is not fully preserved. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.

Scope & Content:
Papontos alias Sotis, of Herakleia, acknowledges that he has received 82 drachmas as a deposit from Arseis, daughter of Mystes. The deposit is to be repaid on demand. The deed, executed at Pelousion, was later crossed out. On the back, the village of Herakleia is mentioned.

Incomplete papyrus sheet, broken off at the left and with five detached scraps located in the left-hand side of the frame. The sheet is damaged by holes throughout, especially along the vertical folds, with loss mostly affecting the left portion. Writing runs along the fibres on the front, with one broad column of 25 lines, the last of which is indented. The back has traces of lines written across the fibres, much defaced, and the official stamp in red. Upper and lower margins are extant; no blank space was left at the right. The surface is abraded in places. The papyrus is housed in a glass case.

Sale of a mouse-coloured female donkey for 64 drachmas in Kerkesoucha, bought by Stotoetis, son of Horus, aged 35, from Pasion, son of Phasis, aged 25. The date and place are provided at the beginning and are written in a hand different from that of the body of the document.

Contract for a one-year sub-lease of seven aruras of public land located around Bakchias. The rent of 2 artabas per arura is to be paid by Heraclides, son of Horion, to Stotoetis and Pacysis, sons of Apynchis, who had leased the land from the village of Soknopaiou Nesos.
