Inventory of paintings and statues belonging to King Charles I, 1639. Compiled by Abraham van der Doort, artist and curator (1575x85-1640). Contains details of 40 paintings and 12 statues, originally held in the King’s Chair Room, in the Privy Gallery at Whitehall. With an index of items delivered to van der Doort.
f. 1r: Title: ‘The Booke of the Kings 40 Pictures and 12 Statuas [sic] placed at this time in the Kings Chare roome in the privy Gallory the perticulers whereof as followeth’.
ff. 1r-11r: Inventory of 40 paintings, with descriptions, materials, artists and details of provenance.
f. 12r: Title: ‘Here are specified the Kings Statuas which are at this time placed in the aforesaid Chareroom standing in the 2 severall windowes being in nomber 12’.
ff. 12r-13r: Inventory of 7 statues, with descriptions, materials, artists and details of provenance. Described as ‘7 statuas in the first wondowe in the said Chareroome’ (f. 13r).
ff 13r-14r: Inventory of 5 more statues, with descriptions, materials, artists and details of provenance. Described as ‘In the second windowe 5 statuas more in the said Chareroome’ (f. 13r).
f. 15r: Unfinished title: ‘An Index or Catalogue of all such ymplements and other things in the said Chareroome Being noe’.
ff. 16r-17r: Inventory of items, including furniture and chimney items. With a note ‘Theis are all the implements which were left in the Chareroome when the King himselfe delivered the key to his servant van der doort But concerning the keys of the Cubboardes they are as yet not delivered to mee’ (f. 17r).
