Scope & Content:

Copy, chiefly MS., corrected for the press, of the Rotuli Parliamentorum ut et petitiones et placita in Parliamento [1278-1503], published in six volumes by the Record Commission, 1767-1777. The contents comprise transcripts, mainly in the hands of James Stewart and George Holmes, Clerks of the Records at Westminster and the Tower respectively, interspersed with pages from William Ryley's Placita Parliamentaria, 1661, and some corrected proofs. The editorial work was done by Philip Morant until his death in 1770, and then by Thomas Astle, both with the assistance of John Topham, who also transcribed the major part of the petitions and subsidiary material. The printing of the work was supervised by the Rev. John Strachey. Paper. Twenty-nine volumes. Folio. Deposited in the British Museum by the House of Lords, 8 March 1770.
