- Photocopies and typescript transcripts of papers by Capt James Jameson (1773-1834), East India Company maritime service 1790-1820: (1) account, dated Jan 1807, of capture by the French of East Indiaman 'Fame' on 24 Sep 1806; (2) account, dated 1811, of his dispute with Mrs Guthrie on social conduct expected of female passengers on board his ship 'General Stuart'; (3) Report in French by Captain Epron of La Piémontaise of the capture of the Fame; (4) A short account of the battle written in English by a French Officer; (5) An undated account of the capture of the Fame; (6) Official Report by Captain Jameson to the Court of Directors of the loss of the Fame, 8 October 1806; (7) A draft of the official report at (6); (8) Letter from Captain Jameson to the Court of Directors of his actions following the loss of the Fame, October 1806; (9) A draft of the letter in (8); (10) Typed copy of the account of the loss of the Fame; (11) Copy of the Bombay Courier 25 October 1806 reporting the loss of the Fame; (12) Copy of the certificate of release of Captain Jameson from his parole; (13) Letter from the Court of Directors to Captain Jameson 26 November 1807 that he was being awarded 200 guineas for his conduct in defending the Fame; (14) Copy of the Courier 17 December 1807 regarding an award made to Captain Jameson; (15) Copy of St Helena Gazette 18 September 1806 giving an account of the capture of the Warren Hastings by La Piémontaise; (16) Two letters from officers in Lord Minto's bodyguard who were impressed with Captain Jameson's conduct in escorting Lord Minto on board the General Stuart in September 1809.
