The collection contains a manuscript copy of the 46-volume rNying ma rGyud 'bum collection and many religious and historical literatures including a great number of gter ma texts, which are said to have been rediscovered after they were hidden in the 8th century by Padmasambhava and his disciples. Tshamdrak was founded by Shes rab Rab dbyangs but we know nothing about him. His descendents looked after the establishment. The most prominent scion was Ngag dbang 'Brug pa, who was a well-known monk scholar in the first half of 18th century. The books were mostly commissioned by him. He also left behind a line of incarnation known as the mTshams brag sprul skus. Some books would certainly predate him. From the physical appearance of the books, they were mostly produced in Bhutan approximately between 1550 and 1900 CE, and in the local area. 120 volumes of manuscripts on paper in loose leaf poti format.

- EAP310 was funded by the Endangered Archives Programme. It created digital copies of records held by the Tshamdrak Temple. This original collection belongs to Tshamdrak temple, which is now controlled by the State Monk Body. No one has the right to remove the collection from its current location and the Royal Government of Bhutan and the State Monk Body controls the right of access to the collection but the people in the locality have the right to use it for religious purposes.
