The Hebrew text in an Arabic phonetic transcription, with the Arabic translation and commentary by Japheth, is embodied.

The Hebrew text is provided with the vowel-points and accents in red ink.

Sedarim are marked in the margin in Arabic, with a small pen and ink design (e.g., folio 65v, 124v), mostly cut away.

Collation

The quires, all of the more or less imperfect, are signed with Arabic numerals on the left-hand upper corner of the first page. Only one such signature has been preserved.

Condition

Lacunae after folios: 12, 21, 31, 45, 48, 61, 115.

Gaps after folios 2, 3, 7, 13, 19, 25, 34, 35, 46, 55, 62, 68, 69, 77, 79, 88, 90, 96, 97, 104, 113, 120, 121, 122.

Imperfect at the beginning and at the end.

Most of the folios are more or less damaged (the best preserved part of the volume being folio 70-113).Modern restoration, stuck on paper.

Moses Wilhelm Shapira (b. 1830, d. 1884), an antiquities dealer of Jerusalem: purchased by the British Library from him on 08 July 1882: inscribed, back flyleaf (i)v.
