By Yehudah Halevi, Zeharyah ben Saʿadiah, Samuel ben Avraham Yeshurun ha-Rofe etc.

Among them are piyutim for circumcision and for the 15 Av.

In some of the poems a stanza in Hebrew is followed by a stanza in Arabic and vice versa.

Ff. 19-20: a marriage contract (of the 19th century) folded into two; its lower half is missing; it might have been used in the binding. F. 20r, line 5: וכתובתה דארכסא לה; that is, it was a replacement marraige contract since the original had got lost.

Provenance and Acquisition

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 491; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 24 August 1928.
