Madras, circa 1830
Illustration depicts Nanapah, standing in profile holding an open book and a set of keys. He is dressed in traditional white kurta and dhoti with a white turban. The setting is a colonial residence with a gilt framed painting in the background picturing St Thomas' Mount, Madras.
