Description: Maki 5 and 6 only (of 10 kan), formerly in 1 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 5) ff. 30; (maki 6) ff. 33. 25.7 x 18 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 22 x 16.1 cm. Double-line borders. Fishtail design on hanshin.
Kanbun text, with printed kunten and some kaeriten. 8 lines to page, 18 characters to line.
Renewed front cover, streaked brown and white, with original title slip pasted on it. Gedai: Kuji hongi 5-6 舊事本紀 五之六. Title from naidai at head of text. Hashiragaki: Kujiki 旧事紀 + maki no. + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: Beyond all reasonable doubt, this copy belongs to the edition published at Kyōto in Kan'ei 21, 1644. A complete copy (e.g. that in Tenri Central Library) has the following kanki: 寛永廿一甲申歳孟夏吉辰 ／ 寺町貞安前町瀧庄三郎. Apart from an edition of Genroku 7 (1694) annotated by Watarai Nobuyoshi 度會延佳, this was the only pre-Meiji edition of this work.
Contents: An ancient historical work compiled in the Heian period, covering events in Japanese history from the legendary period to AD 621.
