Blockprint. Printing frame 19.1 x 14.9 cm. (average). Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text, with printed furigana, dakuten and kutōten. 10 lines to page, c. 20 characters to line.
Mid-blue covers, possibly original, with damaged title slip on maki 下 only. Gedai: たまもさうし. Title from naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: Tama jō (ge) 玉上 (下) + folio no.
Edition: First edition.
Contents: A tale of the Muromachi period (Muromachi jidai monogatari 室町時代物語), formerly classed as an otogi-zōshi.

Condition: Fair. Some folios soiled and stained. Book has been re-backed by urauchi throughout, strengthening fore-edges but leaving damaged portions at lower corners of ff. 21-22 of maki 上 and fol. 14 of maki 下. Fol. 18b of maki 上 is missing. Book cropped at upper and lower edges. Worm damage in upper margins.
Impression: Atozuri from worn blocks.
Illustrations: A total of 13 single-page sumizuri illustrations, 5 in mak 上 , 8 in maki 下.
Seals of ownership: Large square red seal on mikaeshi of maki 上: 行啓紀念大國文庫藏書.
