Description: 2 kan, 2 satsu, in a wrap-around case of thin board. (Maki 上) ff. 34; (maki 下) ff. 32. 25.9 x 18.1 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 17.8 x 15.2 cm. (average). No borders or vertical rules. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text, with dakuten but no furigana. 10 lines to page, 16-20 characters to line.
Renewed covers (mid-Edo period ?) of grey paper, with renewed title slips on left.
Printed gedai: 俵藤太物語 (in kaisho on satsu 上, in gyōsho on satsu 下). No naidai. Title from gedai. Hashiragaki: Tōta jo (ge) とうた上 (下) + folio no.
Edition: First edition, undated but generally attributed to Kan'ei period (1624-44).
Contents: A tale of the Muromachi period, generally classed as otogi-zōshi, centred on the life and exploits of Fujiwara no Hidesato 藤原秀鄕 (=Tawara Tōda).
