Description: 10 kan, 10 satsu, in a box. (Maki 1) ff. 2 (序), 31; (2) ff. 29; (3) ff. 37; (4) ff. 34; (5) ff. 33; (6) ff. 37; (7) ff. 29; (8) ff. 33; (9) ff. 30; (10) ff. 33. 25.6 x 18.1 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 17 x 14 cm. (average). Single-line borders. Single black fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text, with printed furigana, dakuten and kutōten. 10 lines to page, 22-24 characters to line.
Original mid-blue covers with printed title slips, but lacking the tsunogaki (角書) Kamakura Saimyōji-dono 鎌倉最明寺殿 which is present on the original Genroku 4 edition. Gedai: 北條時頼記. Title from naidai. Hashiragaki: Jirai ichidaiki 時頼一代記 + maki no. + folio no.
Edition: A very late printing of the first and only recorded edition of this work.
Contents: A quasi-historical biography of Hōjō Tokiyori 北條時賴, 1227-63, based on actual and legendary events in his life. The work has traditionally been classed as an ukiyo-zōshi story. Other works on the life of Tokiyori include a jōruri play, a kurohon, a yomihon and a kabuki kyakuhon.

Condition: Good. A clean copy, apart from a few soiled folios in maki 1. No worm damage.
Impression: Atozuri, from blocks showing considerable wear.
Illustrations: A total of 40 sumizuri illustrations, 30 single-page and 10 double. Each maki contains 3 single-page and 1 double-page woodcuts, the latter being the first in each case.
Seals of ownership: Square red seal, Urushiyama bunko 漆山文庫, on mikaeshi of each maki. Also a kashihon'ya stamp in a circular frame, reading Tajima / Nakaya Jinzaemon / Yushima 但馬 ／ 仲屋甚左衛門 ／ 湯嶋 on first page of each maki, with a note by the kashihon'ya on each final page.
