Rana Architecture: The Ranas were heavily influenced by European style. This is evident in their fashion, art and architecture. The palaces and gardens are very distinct from the native structures and emulate Victorian England.
Seto Durbar (White Palace) was established by General Bir Shumsher in 1893.It was flanked by Lal Durbar and Phohara Durbar. The estate was divided between Bir Shumsher's grandsons Lila, Sur and Jan Shumsher. A major part was pulled down during road constuction.
