Lal Singh. Inscribed as above. Note: Brahmin. Favourite and lover of Rani Jindan. Chief Minister Lahore, 1845. Instigated Shaikh Imam al-Din, Sikh Governor of Kashmir, not to surrender Kashmir to Gulab Singh. Arrested and tried by British, December 1846. Exiled to Benares.
Timur (ruled 1369-1450). Inscribed: ‘No.1. Timour Shah. First Padshah reigned Sixty Years’; in Persian characters: ‘Timur Shah auwal badshah ta shast sal saltanat namudand.’
Babar (1526-30). Incorrectly inscribed in late hand in red ink: ‘No.2. Shah Alam - or Bahadur Shah - the first of the six Mogols of the declining empire - reigned 1707-1712’; in black ink: ‘Should be Baber.’
Humayun (1530-56). Inscribed: ‘No.3. Humayoon Shah third Padshah reigned Fifty one Years:’ in red ink: ‘Humayun reigned 1530-1556’; in Persian characters: ‘Humayun Shah siwum badshah ta panchah yak sal saltanat namudand.’
