Scope & Content:
Two pages of text giving the name, and number of households, for settlements marked on the field sheet. Names are given in Devanagari script, Chinese characters, and romanised Chinese.
Numbered place-names are listed in Chinese characters and Wade-Giles romanisation. A second set of folios covers the same list, but without romanisation.
Shows hydrology, settlements, and the provincial boundary. The map includes a list of administrative divisions with location and distance information. Place-names have been numbered 1-1719 in manuscript. The key to the numbering is given on the accompanying name list at CHI/131/1/2.
Major places are given in Wade-Giles romanisation; minor places are numbered. The original record of place-names, in Chinese, providing the source for the name-lists added to the blue-print version of the map. There is no title, but the first page has '光緒三十一年六月二十七日由河南衛輝府新鄉縣繪' indicating the date and place where the journey began.
