The indenture is the agreement that the commission-holder shall not accept gifts without the consent of the Company. The document is either a draft of a copy, since it does not seem to have been sealed or signed.
Evidence given against Clive concerning the regulation of the trade in salt, bettel nut and tobacco.

The author is convinced that the monopoly created by Clive was the cause of the Bengal famine of 1769-1770. The copyist has also copied marginal notes written on the original.
The document relates to the Inland Trade, and especially to arrangements with the Nawabs and the role of the gomestahs. "Mr V" is probably Harry Verelst.
