29 Crutched Friars stood to the east of the part of the warehouse erected in 1787: the East India Company purchased the lease from George Whitlock in 1790 for £100 and the freehold from Dr William Dobbin and his son in 1796 for £700.
Part of the Navy Office stood on the site of two houses in Seething Lane: Aleyn's House, later known as Walsingham House or Muscovy House, and the White Horse Inn.
