Draft of a letter to Mr Houth and George Grenville.
Scope & Content:
It seems from notes on the reverse of the final folio that the letter was initially sent to Mr Houth and subsequently a copy was sent to Grenville. On both occasions that Grenville's name appears it is spelt 'Greenville'.
Letters in cypher, probably in William Watts' handwriting.
Scope & Content:
The letters are similar in format to those of the sequence of letters he sent in 1757, but lack either dates or numbers. Both contain parts which have been decrypted.
Copy of an indenture made between the Company and Clive.
Scope & Content:
The indenture binds Clive to serve the Company in India for five years from his arrival in India. The document has been marked at the paragraphs concerning the surrender of all relevant documentation to the Company.
Part of Clive's journal during the voyage to India.
Scope & Content:
The entries refer to Clive in the third person. Although the entries are in Clive's handwriting it is possible that the journal is copied from the ship's records.
