Notebook on Greek grammar containing notes on declinations and six tables on Greek tenses. It also contains three loose sheets with Latin texts similar to the sheet found in notebook Add MS 88942/1/3.
The notebook contains etymological notes on specific English terms, but does not seem to be directly related to English Etymologies. Talbot edited the notes with a different pen.
The notebook starts with the headline 'Part omitted' and contains only two and a half pages of notes on Greek etymology, possibly related to Talbot's English Etymologies.
The notebook includes a short introduction to metre in Greek poetry, a 'Table of feet as metrically used by the Roman Poets' and 'The nine first odes of Horace according to the Greek Metrical system'. Only a few pages are used. Notebook started: 6 May 1811.
The notebook starts 'Analogy is the great guiding principle of etymological researches' and contains etymological notes in mainly English, French, Italian, German, Greek, and Persian. Notebook started: 25 Nov 1831.
