Oil-seller and wife; the man carries a basket of pots on his head and the woman has a smal pot and measure. Inscribed: ‘The Tailee or Oil-Monger tribe. This class as well as all Mechanics, wear a Cotton thread over the left shoulder.’
Glass-bangle seller and wife; both carry strings of bangles. Incribed: ‘The Bungadugar (a Gentooo tribe) generally deals in glass ornments of different colours, worn on the Arm by the females of India.’
Torch-bearer and wife; the man carries a torch and brass oil vessel, the woman carries oil and a measure. Inscribed: ‘The Mussalchee tribe or linkboy; and generally accompanies a travelling palankeen.’
