- Altan Ova. In Sunid Hoshun. Young Mongol, aged fifteen, who has ridden in a horse race that morning. The course is about fifteen miles, and the riders have neither saddle nor stirrups, but a square of felt is attached to the seat of their clothes. The riders are aged from seven upwards, and a few of them are girls. This writer carries a tablet.
