- No. 25. The Siege in Peking. Fortified 'Ramp' back of the American Legation, leading to the American position on the city wall. Probably the hardest fighting of the siege took place on this section of the wall. At one time the American soldiers held the incline on the left and the Chinese soldiers the one on the right, and waged battle across the narrow space at the top, where each had built a barricade.
