'As the self-delivery tube of the charsa (leather bucket) empties the water, the log (a date-palm trunk) steadies the flow of water and evens the rate of flow in the irrigation duct. The thick rope lifts the bucket. The thin one pulls forward the tube at the top of the bucket's rise.'
