The region is notorious for malaria; the Collector would not allow the Bakes to stay overnight in the Travellers Bungalow. In that notorious T. B. it was very quiet and Bake made several records there. Most people who came were Pariyahs, who had harvest- and agricultural songs. Hanuman, who is similar to the Malabar Hanuman.
