A snake surmounted by Krishna and surrounded by auspicious emblems - sun, moon, crab, scorpion, flower, fishes, centipede, spider and stars. On either side a nagini reveres the snake. Inscribed on front in nagari characters. Coloured wood-block print; 280 by 402 mm.
Indra. 108 by 146 mm. With Surabhi (the Cow of Plenty) Indra prostrates himself before Krishna and begs forgiveness for having poured down rain on the cow-herds of Braja. It was this storm which led Krishna to shelter them by holding up Mount Govardhan.
Indra. Numbered ‘f.121’ in nagari. 105 by 145 mm. With folded hands Indra speaks to Krishna, and Surabhi stands by. In the foreground water with lotuses; in the background houses and trees.
Indra. Numbered ‘f.124’ in nagari. 107 by 113 mm. Accompanied by two heavenly musicians, Indra bows before Krishna with folded hands. In the sky are Surabhi, Indra’s white elephant, two musicians and heavenly beings who rain down flowers on Krishna.
Krishna. 109 by 146 mm. Krishna is seated in a pavilion with Balarama behind him, conversing with Nanda. On either side stands a cow-herd with a ‘chauri’ and a bearded figure kneels.
Krishna. Numbered ‘f.126’ in nagari. 110 by 145 mm. Krishna appears as Visnu to Nanda who is seated in front of him. Two cowherds fan Krishna and on the left stands Balarama with two other figures.
