A Maratha horseman slashing with a sword at a foot-soldier while another lies decapitated on the ground. Inscribed on back: ‘A Mahrattar Horseman’ and numbered: ‘38.’. 254 by 184 mm.
A Madras sepoy and his wife. The sepoy wears a navy-blue turban with white tassels and carries a matchlock marked ‘Harrison 1779’. Inscribed on front: ‘Moor Sepoy & his Wife’: on back: ‘Moor Sepoy & his Wife’ and numbered: ‘45’. 260 by 178 mm.
