The 1941 diary is inscribed to Olivier from Vivien Leigh, and the 1942 diary to Olivier from John and Mary Mills. There is also an identical but unused diary inscribed to VL by the Millses.

The papers include general correspondence with his staff and with service industries, and papers relating to the Garrick and other clubs. These relate almost entirely to activities in which Olivier himself was personally interested, rather than things he was asked to do by others. Mostly printed.
