These applications for pension, made to the Committee in the UK, are mainly from NCOs and private soldiers (with a few officers and widows). They give details of previous service and place of origin.
Records of the Lord Clive Fund's Capital and Contingent Funds
Scope & Content:
In the accounts of the Contingent Fund, the names of pensioners are given, in the accounts of the Capital Fund, only the numbers of pensioners by ranks. The half-yearly statements of expenditure go into considerable detail.
Statements of Expenditure/Lists of Pensioners (Widows only) paid in India
Scope & Content:
Bengal volumes give only officers' widows until c 1826, thereafter all widows - the husband's rank is given but not his forenames or initials. Madras volumes give only officers' widows until c 1800, thereafter all widows - the husband's forenames/initials are not given, his rank given from May 18...
Both volumes give full recruitment and discharge details for European NCOs and other ranks. Vol 2 gives a pensioner's town of residence (from 1849) and includes widows (from 1862).
These cover Great Britain, Ireland and the Colonies (excluding India) and refer mainly to soldiers. From April 1850 they show the district in which the death took place.

These include details of a subscriber's dates of appointment, marriage, retirement and death, names and dates of birth of children, name of wife, and places of marriage and baptism
