Letter of Dionysius on Irrigation Works (P.Petrie Kleon 20, P.Petr. II 6, P.Petr. III 42c(7), P.Lond. III 522 descr., TM 7643)
Scope & Content:
Letter of Dionysius to Dorus, enclosing the copy of the memorandum sent to him by the vice-engineer Petechonsis, with instructions on works to be conducted on canals for the irrigation of land. The back bears a docket including summary and date, and the address.

Extent:

Papyrus sheet of good quality from mummy cartonnage, lacking the lower left corner and part of the right-hand side; writing runs across the fibres on the front, and portions of 14 lines remain. The upper margin measures 20 mm, the left 28 mm and the lower 5 mm. Blank space is occasionally left between words. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Fragment of a papyrus sheet from mummy cartonnage, broken off at the top and right; written on one side across the fibres. Portions of 17 lines remain, all lacking the ends except for line 17. A blank of 15 mm separates lines 6 and 7. Lower and left margins measure c. 30 mm. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.
