Title:
Repayment of a Loan (P.Grenf. I 26, P.Lond. III 622 descr., TM 48348)
Scope & Content:
Record of the repayment of a loan of 56 artabas of wheat, drawn up in the notarial office of Pathyris. Psenenoupis, son of Onnophris, had lent the wheat from Herienouphis (Herianoupis), who acknowledges receipt of repayment. With summary on the back.

Papyrus sheet, square-shaped, with some holes especially along the left edge (front), but well preserved as to the rest. Writing runs across the fibres on the front and along them on the back. The back bears a one-line docket. On the front there are ten lines, the last of which is indented; paragraphus and blank space divide line 9 from line 10. Margins survive, with the lower measuring 65 mm. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Scope & Content:
Loan of 7 1/6 artabas of wheat, drawn up in Pathyris before Hermias, representative of the notary Paniscus; the lenders are Herienouphis and his comrades, and the borrower Nechutes. Penalty applies should Nechutes fail to pay the wheat back within the agreed time.

Papyrus sheet, broken off at the top, somewhat torn along the right edge and with little damage along one horizontal fold, but otherwise well preserved. Writing runs along the fibres on one side, the back being blank. The text occupies two thirds of the sheet; there are 19 lines with traces of an additional line at the top. A paragraphus and some blank space separate the last line. Side margins are minimal, and the blank space at the bottom measures 80 mm. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass case.
