View looking up the rocky slope towards the iron lighthouse above, completed in 1875 to guide shipping through the hazardous passage of the Raz de Sein. Largely obscured in the background, with only its top visible, is the Bec du Raz light.
View of the circular lighthouse tower of Penmarch, on the south-western extremity of the Quimper peninsula. The smaller square semaphore tower to the left was probably the original lighthouse, in use before the completion of its successor in 1835.
General view of the narrow river channel at Douélan (to the north of Lorient) and the two lighthouse towers which indicate the alignment of the outer channel.
