The picture depicted four monks reading Punch, an advertisement for Pears soap on the back cover. The painting had nothing to do with Punch, but had been commissioned for a supplement to the Pears Annual in 1891.
Includes a short article by Peter Mellini, photocopied press-cuttings, and Heather’s own copy of a 1924 marketing report entitled 'The Future of Punch'.
