The letter orders Hardie to Bussora [Basra] with a packet for Mr. Latouche and warns of recent incidents involving the Chaub [the Banu Ka'b tribal confederacy]. Hardie is ordered to not attack the Chaub unless he is first attacked by them.

Letter thanks Latouche for intelligence provided by him and reports the news that Shaikh Rashed arrived in Bushire 4 October 1783 in order to join Shaikh Nasser against the Zeberra [Zubarah] Arabs and Shaikh Abdullah's arrival (for the same purpose) is expected daily.
