The appendix is a letter dated 29 September 1765 from Clive to the Court of Directors which formed a report to them of the situation he found in India upon his arrival in 1765. The text may be a draft one since it seems to be in his own handwriting and contains several amendments.
Bond entered into by William Tryer of London, Commander of the ship Deptford for £2000 to be paid to Robert Clive.
Scope & Content:
The condition of the bond being that the Deptford shall sail to the East Indies and return within 36 months, and that upon return £1250 shall be paid to Clive within 30 days of the ships arrival in the river Thames. Witnessed by Simson Levy.
Bond entered into by Thomas Hanmer of Montfort for £2000 to be paid to Edward Clive, 1st Earl of Powis.
Scope & Content:
The condition of the bond is that Hamner shall be prepared upon one month's notice to surrender the living of Montfort to the rightful incumbent. Witnessed by John Ashby of Shrewsbury.
Bond for four thousand Arcot rupees to be paid to Dawsonne Drake of Fort St David.
Scope & Content:
The condition of the bond is that Clive shall pay 2000 Arcot rupees and a premium 21 days after the arrival of the Alisheruff at Fort St David or such an average as may fall due on the Salvage if she does not arrive safely. Witnessed by Hugh J. Corris.
Bond for £24,000 to be paid to Herbert Mackworth the elder, the contract to be void if £13,200 is paid to Mackworth in named instalments by 24 June 1764.
