Scope & Content:
Letter of the governor Qurrah ben Sharik to Basilius, pagarch of Aphrodito, complaining about the quality of the tax money paid to the treasury, poorly minted, and asking that the matter be investigated. The right-hand half of the papyrus is now in Berlin.

Left-hand portion of a papyrus the right-hand portion of which is now in Berlin (P. 25040); medium-dark brown; broken off at the top; written on one side, the back being blank. The front bears the beginnings of 16 lines running against the fibres; the ends are preserved on the fragment in Berlin. Horizontal folds are still visible. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Beginning of a letter of the governor Qurrah ben Sharik to Basilius, pagarch of Aphrodito, concerning the maintenance of labourers and skilled workmen for the mosque in Jerusalem and the palace. The back bears the address, the date, the name of the courier and the summary.

Upper portion of a medium-brown papyrus, broken off at the bottom and mutilated on the sides; with insect holes throughout; written on both sides. The front bears 4 lines from the top of a column running across the fibres and somewhat mutilated; on the back, there are remains of two lines written along the fibres upside down in relation to each other. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.

Nine fragments from the right-hand portion of a medium-brown papyrus roll, broken off at the top, with breaks and holes along the horizontal folds; written on one side, the back being blank. On the front, there are the ends of 15 lines written across the fibres, fairly spaced. The lower margin is extant. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Each fragment usually preserves a few words from one line, running across the fibres. Only a few fragments bear traces of two lines. Beginning of a papyrus roll, broken off on the right (front), with two detached scraps; overall well preserved; bearing writing on both sides. On the front, the first sheet displays vertical fibres and bears two lines in Arabic, imperfect, running along the fibres, perpendicularly to the main text; after ample blank space there is the left-hand portion of one column written along the fibres. Upper and lower margins survive. Two sheet-joins runs vertically. On the back, there are two columns written across the fibres; ample blank space was left on the left; the last sheet displays horizontal fibres as opposed to the other sheets, hence the lines written on it run along the fibres. Upper and lower margins survive. The papyrus is housed in a glass frame.
