The letter is not signed and there is no salutation. The author complains of the unusual length of the voyage so far, suggesting that he was probably part of Clive's group, if so the date must be in 1764.

Dated at Fort William, reporting the capture of Murshidabad and other military events. The letter is not signed but a note states that it was received from Mr Vansittart.
Copy of a letter to the Court of Directors from Clive dated 28 March 1764.
Scope & Content:
Dated at Berkeley Square, concerning the terms for Clive's acceptance of the Governor-ship of Bengal. A note on the cover numbers the copy as "No 3" and states that it was sent in a letter to or from Clive's attorneys on 12 December 1765.

Dated at Calcutta, reporting on the situation in Bengal since his last letter. The letter is either in his own hand or in Strachey's. The text in both copies has been significantly amended, and one version includes most of the changes made in the other.
