Pashupatinath Temple is Nepal’s most sacred Hindu shrine and one of the subcontinent’s greatest Shiva sites. The roofs and pediments over the main doors are of gilded copper and the doors repoussé silverwork. In the background is the Ganesh Himal.
At Kharibot (the tree under which the Rana Prime Ministers read out their proclamations, in existence until 1960s) on the Tundikhel. Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher J.B. Rana announces in the presence of His Majesty King Tribhuvan the emancipation of slaves on 28 November 1924.
