A nobleman in Hyderabad costume, standing looking right, holding flower and sword. Inscription (erroneous): ‘Sultan Abul Hasan.’. 195 by 110 mm. Note: He bears no resemblance to the know portraits of Sultan Abu’l Hasan of Golconda (reg.1672-87).
Tipu Sultan of Mysore (reg.1782-99), head and shoulder looking left. Inscription: ‘Tippu Sultan’. 202 by 130 mm. Note: The usual portrait, based on the original oil painting formerly attibuted to F. Cherry (F28), but in fact by a south Indian artist.
