The Bengal Army is assembled in the Upper Provinces for service against the Marathas - a corps of Irregular Cavalry is raised under the command of Major Richard Frith - Captain Thomas Wood is appointed to command the Pioneer Corps.
A Sibbendy (Revenue) Corps is raised for service in the Cawnpore District - additional soldiers recruited for the Sibbendy Corps in Districts Etawah, Moradabad, Allahabad and Gorakhpur.
Increase in the numbers of men serving in the Ramghar Battalion and the Governor General's Body Guard. The two four-pounder field pieces attached to the Body Guard are to be replaced by two six-pounders - consequent increase in the number of Gun Lascars attached to the Body Guard.
