A letter probably written by one of Clive's party upon their arrival at Rio de Janeiro.
Scope & Content:
The letter is not signed and there is no salutation. The author complains of the unusual length of the voyage so far, suggesting that he was probably part of Clive's group, if so the date must be in 1764.
The letter was written upon its author's arrival in Madras and outlines the expenses of setting up an establishment there. The author also hopes that his correspondent will exercise his interest to get him transferred to Bengal. It is possible that the author was Clive. The letter is incomplete.
