The notebook contains notes and comments on Assyrian. Notebook started: 12 Feb 1867. Above the date, Talbot has written '13 Gt. Stuart St.', an address in Edinburgh where he sometimes resided.

Contains notes on the Tiglath Pileser inscription. Contains a late revision of earlier translations of the published Tiglath Pileser inscription (1857). See also Add MS 88942/1/146-147.
This notebook contains what is probably Talbot's final draft of his translation of the inscription of the Assyrian king Esarhaddon (681–669 BC), to which Talbot dedicated much of his time from the mid 1850s. For further translation drafts, see Add MS 88942/1/156-158, and Add MS 88942/1/160.
