The play was first performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company at The Other Place, Stratford-upon-Avon on 28 Oct. 1988. It had its first London performance by the RSC at The Pit on 16 Aug. 1989. It won the 1989 Eileen Anderson Central TV Drama Award. Two volumes.
