Kemball reports the death of the Sheikh Muktoom [Maktum bin Butti] of Debaye [Dubai] from smallpox, while on board one of the Imam of Muscat's vessels, travelling from Muscat to Kishm [Qeshm]. Kemball states that Sheikh Saeed bin Butye [Said bin Butti] has succeeded the deceased ruler.

Malet acknowledges Kemball's previous letter (ff 178-179), and writes that the Governor in Council expects that small quantities of the plundered indigo will be found in many places. Malet also notes that the Government understand Fijeera [Fujairah] belongs to the Chief of Shinas.
