Each picture has eight lines of French verse, of varying length, rhymes ababbcbc, assigned either to "l'acteur" or "le personage." While not unlike in form to the Emblemata of A. Alciati (1522, etc.), the book is more closely parallel to Add. MS. 17297 and to a Paris MS., fonds fr. 24461. The latter, which is said to be a book of cartoons for tapestry, contains verses...
