Trumbull arrived at Constantinople as Ambassador on 17 Aug. 1687, and stayed there till 31 July, 1691 (see f. 2); but the narrative breaks off at 28 Apr. 1688 (f. 37 b), with a few disconncted notes on subsequent events. Much of the substance of these "Memorials" was seen by Sir Paul Rycaut in Trumbull's letters home and used in his History of the Turks (in continuation of Knolles), 1700: see pp. 187-290 passim,...
