This fonds consists of 29 books digitised as part of the EAP127 Archiving Popular Market Bengali Books project, funded by the Endangered Archives Programme. The books are all adventure novels dating from the mid 19th to the early 21st Century, and were published by Rahasya-Lahari, Haridas Pal, and Ahindranath Chattopadhyay.
The original books were collected by R P Gupta from antiquarian book dealers, specialist publishers and through street purchases. Following his death, Jadavpur University purchased a large selection of his collections, including the items digitised here.
The books are primarily written in Bengali, although Hindi (in Bengali script) and English do appear occasionally.

Images in this fonds were captured with digital cameras. Some text has not been captured in the image, as the original materials were tightly bound and could not be fully opened for photography. None of the paperback originals retain their original covers, and so replacement covers have been created by the staff at Jadavpur University. Each book bears the stamp of the library. In some cases the original printed prices have been scratched off the originals, causing damage.
