This fonds consists of 11 Bengali 'Popular Market' chap books, digitised as part of the EAP127 project. All original materials were published in 2008. The collection consists of: a book of mathematical puzzles; a teaching manual; books of Bengali folk songs; books of popular music; a book of traditional astrological verses; a book of film scores; an illustrated guide to increasing one's height; and a homeopathy guide.
The books were produced by the following publishers:
chaturbhuj pustakalay; rajendra library; raju sachdeb publications; sachdeb pustakalay and press; sajal pustakalay; shabiya pustakalay; tara mei publications; Teachers Concern.
The original materials were acquired by Sukanta Chaudhuri from street vendors in Kolkata, whilst working for the School of Cultural Texts and Records. These items represent his private collection. He also donated material to the School of Cultural Texts and Records (see EAP127/1).
